John Carafello

John Carafello’s family was originally from Paterson, NJ. He graduated from Kinnelon High School and thereafter from Upsala college in 1973 with a BA. He went on to complete several MAI courses at the University of Conn., Syndicating Real Estate course from NYU and completed several NACORE professional courses. He was one of the original members of NACORE International (National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives) as well as an active member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) since 1975. John has been in the real estate business since 1972 and a licensed broker since 1975. He has national corporate experience holding positions as, National Director of Real Estate Bagel Nosh International; Real Estate Marketing Manager, Vorelco, Inc (Volkswagen Real Estate Company) the investment portfolio of Volkswagen A.G.; Director of Real Estate Baker Industries (parent company of Wells Fargo alarm, fire, armored guard) and Real Estate Field Manager for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He is experienced in real estate including but not limited to site selection, demographics, document preparation and negotiations, securing approvals, construction, property management and property marketing including sale /leasebacks and 1031’s. This experienced has been applied to various facets of real estate, retail buildings, warehouses, office complexes and utility buildings.

John and his wife Eileen also have developed commercial and residential projects for their own account and investment portfolio. Eileen owns and manages The Freedom Realty Group, Inc. since 1987.

John has lived in the Township since 1989 and served for 6 years on the Township Committee. Several of those years as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. He had tenure on the Zoning Board and the Planning Board as Vice Chair and Chairman.

John and Eileen who both have passed the US Coast Guard Auxiliary courses enjoy sailing their sailboat at the Jersey shore.

John is committed to the “high quality of life” in Andover Township and the need for job creation and services to our residents. He has an understanding of the needs and concerns of businesses when expanding or locating within the Township.
